To celebrate Spoonflower’s 500th Design Challenge (September 2020), they were shining the spotlight on the artists, for they would not be them without us! No matter the topic or medium, we were supposed to create a design that would let our individual personalities shine as an artist. This was an open theme challenge that honored the immense talent and diverse styles within the artists' community, and the only guidepost was to be true to ourselves. So I created another cat print!
Meet Ollie Cat! This design was inspired by wooden cat statues I saw on Pinterest. I started by drawing by hand but soon realized that it would be quicker to create the repetition if I turned the cats into vector shapes. And it was for this design that I created the color palette I call Bohemian.
I came 15th in the Challenge and this print is still one of the best sellers in my portfolio.
